Destination de Voyage is an independent editorial site that helps travellers plan their trips. The Destination de Voyage editorial team signs its content collectively as “The Destination de Voyage team”: every guide follows the same research, writing and checking process, described on this page and detailed in our methodology. The site was created in French; this English edition adapts our guides for English-speaking travellers, starting with Japan, Thailand and Portugal.
Who we are
We are a small editorial team used to documentary research. Our aim: give, for each destination, a clear and verifiable answer to the questions that matter before you leave. When to go? What is the climate like by region? What are the entry requirements? How much should you budget? Where to go for your kind of trip?
Rather than signing each article with a different name, we sign collectively. This is a deliberate choice: a guide’s reliability rests on the quality of its sources, cited at the bottom of the page, not on a personal story. So we do not present travel experiences, testimonials or reviews as if the team had lived them.
What we publish
The site is organised by continent, then country, then city or region. In total, 209 pages are published across the site, broken down as follows:

How we work
Every guide follows the same steps, described in detail in our methodology:
- Identify travellers’ questions: best time to go, climate by region, budget, entry requirements, events, based on the most frequent searches and the questions we receive.
- Collect data from reference sources: 1991–2020 climate normals from national weather services (such as the Japan Meteorological Agency); the U.S. Department of State (travel.state.gov) and the UK FCDO (GOV.UK) for entry requirements, health and safety in the English edition; embassies and consulates; national tourist boards for events and seasons; operators’ official websites for transport.
- Write to a common template, so you always find information in the same place (for example: direct answer, 12-month climate table, regional differences, best period for your kind of trip).
- Check before publication: figures are checked one by one against the cited source, information likely to change is flagged as such, and the content is reviewed by the editorial team.
- Cite, date, update: sources are listed at the bottom of each guide and the update date is shown. Guides are revised first when important information changes (entry requirements, safety, transport).
How we use artificial intelligence
Every guide rests first on real sourcing work. In addition, the team may use digital tools, including artificial intelligence tools, to help structure and write. These tools never replace research and checking: no data is published without being checked against its source, and every piece of content is reviewed and approved before publication (see our editorial policy).
Our commitments
- No fake reviews, fake testimonials or invented experiences.
- No photos presented as our own when they are not.
- Sources cited at the bottom of each guide and a visible update date.
- Variable information (prices, event dates, entry requirements) flagged as such, with a link to the official source to check before booking.
- Recommendations that do not depend on commercial partnerships.
- Prompt correction of any reported error.
Independence and funding
Destination de Voyage is free. It may be funded through affiliate links: if you book through certain links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. These links are disclosed. They influence neither our choice of topics, nor our recommendations, nor the information presented: a guide always answers the question first, before offering a booking link. Details are in our editorial policy.
Report an error
Has some information changed, or have you spotted an error? Write to us via the contact page, in English if you prefer, including if possible the address of the page concerned and the source of the correct information. Every report is read and checked, and if necessary the guide is corrected and its update date refreshed.
Frequently asked questions
Who writes the Destination de Voyage guides?
The guides are produced by the Destination de Voyage editorial team and signed collectively. They all follow the same research, writing and checking process, described in our methodology.
Where does the climate data come from?
From the 1991–2020 climate normals published by each country’s national weather service. The source is cited under the tables and at the bottom of each guide.
Are the entry requirements up to date?
They are checked on travel.state.gov (US) and GOV.UK foreign travel advice (UK) at the date the guide was updated. As they can change, always check those official sources before you travel.
Do you use artificial intelligence?
Yes, alongside our sourcing work, to help structure and write. No data is published without being checked against its source, and every piece of content is reviewed before publication.
How is the site funded?
Through disclosed affiliate links: we may earn a commission if you book through certain links, at no extra cost to you and with no influence on our recommendations.
